Galliford Try heads for sixth straight year of growth with profit at top of forecasts

Galliford Try expects to report adjusted profit before tax at the top end of analysts’ forecasts of £51.4m to £53.4m for the year to 30 June, marking a sixth consecutive year of revenue, profit and cash growth.

Against a backdrop of a slow construction market in the early stages of 2026, Galliford Try has produced encouraging results that justifies its outperformance of peers over the past year.

The construction group said momentum from the first half carried through the second, with revenue expected to be up around 3% and commercial discipline across both Building and Infrastructure driving continued margin progression towards its 2030 target of 4.0%.

Galliford Try is in a strong financial position with year-end cash of £258.8m, no bank debt, no pension liabilities and an undrawn revolving credit facility, alongside a £37.2m portfolio of marketable PPP assets.

The group put that firepower to work during the year, completing the acquisition of Nene Valley Fire and Acoustic in February, a higher-margin bolt-on extending its passive fire prevention capabilities..

In terms of the outlook, the order book stood at £4.3bn at 30 June, up from £4.1bn, with around 90% of the new financial year’s revenue already secured.

Recent wins include a place on the £15.4bn Department for Education construction framework, a £750m affordable homes framework for Sovereign Network Group, the £1.5bn YORbuild Major Works 2 framework, three schools totalling £139m, a £60m munitions handling facility at RAF Lakenheath and the group’s first affordable housing scheme, a £26m project for Clarion Housing in Chester.

With operations concentrated in public and regulated sector frameworks, Galliford Try said it is well placed to support the Government’s £725bn long-term infrastructure investment plan, with significant opportunities across water, transportation, energy, education, defence, custodial and health.

Full-year results are due on 17 September.
