DP Poland sales rise on higher ticket values, but order volumes slip

DP Poland said sales grew in the third quarter, but the increase came from customers spending more per order rather than ordering more often.

All in all, the pizza maker delivered a fairly uninspiring update, and shares fell on Wednesday.

The operator of Domino’s Pizza in Poland and Croatia reported total system sales in Poland up 10.4% in the quarter, with like-for-like sales up 0.6%, a slowdown after a stronger first half, as higher average order values offset a 7.2% drop in like-for-like order numbers.

Trading was subdued in July and August before growth returned in September. Croatia grew strongly, with sales up 35%, helped by new store openings.

The company said it was pressing on with its shift to a franchise-led model, converting four more corporate stores to franchises in the quarter and taking franchised outlets to 42% of its network. It is targeting more than half by year-end. It is also working to integrate its acquired Pizzeria 105 estate and plans to launch a new customer app in the final quarter to lift order numbers.

DP Poland said its cash position was stable and that it expected full-year trading to align with market expectations.
