Alumasc revenue climbs 10% as order book jumps

Building products firm Alumasc has outperformed a soggy construction market, reporting a 10% rise in first-quarter revenue and a sharply higher order book.

The company said revenue grew 9.6% in the three months to the end of September, with all three of its divisions growing. Its diverse operational base covers water management, building envelope, and housebuilding products, allowing it to secure work across a broad range of projects, from airports in Asia to housebuilding in the UK.

The revenue increase was helped by its first sales for a project at Singapore’s Changi Airport, but revenue was still up 5% excluding that and another airport contract, despite weak demand in UK residential construction.

Margins also improved, helped by earlier restructuring.

The company said order intake had remained strong, with its order book 67% higher than a year earlier. Recent wins included a £2.1m contract for a student accommodation project at Manchester University and work at a port in Nigeria, as it diversifies its export markets. Alumasc said the momentum underpinned its full-year expectations.

Vijay Thakrar, Interim Executive Chair, said: “Against such a tough economic and construction market backdrop, it is encouraging to see the positive revenue and order intake momentum continue over Q1 FY27 and into the first weeks of Q2 across all of our divisions. Our management teams are performing well, under the leadership of the Executive Board, progressing our strategic self-help and organic growth objectives.”
