Amaroq has started scout drilling at its Minturn iron-copper-gold prospect in Northwest Greenland, the first time the target has been tested below the surface.
The programme follows surface sampling conducted in 2025, which returned iron grades of up to 69.5%.
The drilling will assess the depth and geometry of the high-grade iron mineralisation and test the potential for copper and gold associated with a parallel geophysical and geochemical anomaly.
Amaroq describes Minturn, which it holds through a joint venture, Gardaq, as sitting on what it believes is Greenland’s strongest regional magnetic anomaly, a roughly 9km target within a wider 80km mineralised corridor.
James Gilbertson, VP Exploration, said: “Minturn is an exceptional and previously untested target, centred on what we believe to be Greenland’s strongest regional magnetic anomaly. At surface, we have already identified high-grade iron mineralisation across a substantial trend, alongside geophysical and geochemical evidence, that supports potential for copper and gold within a broader IOCG-style system.”
Given the challenges of operating in such a remote part of Greenland, around 220km north of the US Pituffik Space Base, the company has streamlined the campaign, deferring planned ground geophysics to concentrate time and resources on drilling.
It said the results would feed into its geological model and help design follow-up work, while building the operating know-how for sustained exploration in North Greenland, drawing on the infrastructure established through its operations in the south of the country.
