CleanTech Lithium has produced approximately 330kg of high-purity lithium carbonate from its Laguna Verde project brine, with purity reaching 99.91% in the final processing campaign.
It has been a long road for CleanTech Lithium and its direct lithium extraction endeavours. Today’s update provides investors something to be cheerful about.
Purity across the five campaigns ranged from 99.68% to 99.91%, with a further 250kg of lithium carbonate stored in recycle fluids from pre-treatment and carbonation.
The material was produced by US-based Empower EIT, which processed around 55,000 litres of eluate from the company’s DLE pilot plant in Copiapó, Chile, at its advanced facility in Dallas.
The nanofiltration stage used DuPont’s latest FilmTec LiNE-XD membranes for lithium brine purification, achieving what the company described as superior purification and efficiency.
Attention now turns to optimising and verifying the process used in the completed pre-feasibility study for Laguna Verde.
A PFS process validation trial is underway in Chile alongside definitive feasibility study-level adsorbent test work in France, while lithium brine services specialist Zelandez has been engaged to conduct a comprehensive spent brine reinjection options analysis to support the project’s sustainable development.
