Filtronic wins $8m satellite payload follow-on order

Filtronic has secured an $8m follow-on order from a US customer for prototype units to be deployed on satellites.

The AIM-listed maker of radio frequency technology said the contract, covering the design, development and build of the units, expanded a customer relationship that began with a $0.5m development deal in June, and added to an $8m amplifier order from the same customer in March.

It said the award reinforced its position in millimetre-wave technology for satellite payloads.

The contract is expected to be completed in the first half of the 2028 financial year, with revenue recognised across FY2027 and FY2028, giving Filtronic further visibility over future sales.

Nat Edington, Chief Executive Officer, said: “Being awarded this significant follow-on contract with our recently secured US customer demonstrates the growing relationship and the confidence they have in Filtronic’s technical expertise. Our ability to develop and deliver highly advanced mmWave technology at pace is enabling us to establish ourselves as a trusted partner in the rapidly growing satellite market. We are delighted to be expanding our role in this programme and look forward to continuing to support our customer as the technology progresses towards deployment.”

Filtronic shares have suffered in recent months as the hype around their relationship with SpaceX faded and results. underwhelmed. The Filtronic share price is now less than half of its peak.
